How I Demonstrated Leadership as an Intern
As a social work major, I am now convinced that social work is the best field that offers the best leadership skills which are closely aligned to different styles. These styles, for instance, transformational leadership helps in the identification of areas that need change, create the necessary vision for that change by inspiring and guiding others to work in a bid to achieve that change. Therefore, choosing social work as a career equips an intern with ambition, desire, vision, and the desire to do the best things. My internship opportunity provided a more significant career opportunity for me to grow as more emphasis was put offering guidance and supporting the disadvantaged communities. As a social worker, I pride myself in the provision of good leadership, which entails daily application of values that commit me to professionalism. I realized that in this practicum setting, some people are called to lead from the front position, while others lead from various quite places they are. My two weeks internship program provided me with appropriate skills to discern that neither form of leadership is less or more important than one another. They are just unique and different. Having known the two types of leadership honor values and principles of effective leadership.
