American Revolution (Other (Not Listed) Sample)

Instructions:

Explain the causes of the American Revolution. Why did most Americans come to believe by 1776 that they needed to break with the British Empire and with the institution of monarchy, even though they had long seemed happy under the rule of both? Why did the American Revolution succeed? (Among the issues you should discuss are: the advantages – and lack thereof - of being part of the Empire; how Americans’ freedom was threatened by taxation without representation; Americans’ understanding of the meaning of the repressive legislation that Parliament passed against the colonies; and how Americans overcame their disunity and differences. Make sure that you keep your narrative of the events leading up to the revolution to a minimum.)

The American Revolution
The American Revolution took root between the years 1975 and 1983. Other people would refer to it as the American Revolutionary War or the War of Independence for the United States. The conflict erupted after the growing tensions that were between the residents of the 13 North American states that were colonies of the Great Britain and the colonial government. In the year 1978, the colonists got enforcements in the American Revolution from France. Therefore, with France entering the American Revolution, the war that was initially a civil war turned and became an international war. What made the Americans realize that they had to part with the empire and the monarchy was that they needed to be independent and free from the oppressive rule. Therefore, they wanted to form their own government and have representatives of their own rather that have a government that was far away from them.
The colonies in North America under Great Britain had rejected the attempt of the British Parliament to incur a number of taxes on them. Their main argument was because they had no representation in the government yet the colonialists wanted to incur taxes on them. Thus, taxation was the major cause of the American Revolution (Adelman, 2013). The British government had incurred a number of debts that had erupted from the Indian and French war. Both wars had taken place before the start of the American Revolution way back in 1756 to 1763. Therefore, because a lot of debts had been incurred on the British government, they wanted to incur taxes on their American colonies so that they could be in a position of paying off the debt they had (Zoe, 2016).
Therefore, taxation spurred tension between the British and the residents of their 13 North America colonies. The tax acts that were imposed by the colonialists included the Stamp Act, as well as the Townshend Act. The colonists were very angered because a lot of taxes were being levied on them yet they had no representatives in the government and the government itself was way too far from them (Adelman, 2013). This led the colonists to protest because they were been taxed without representation. Further protests that were very serious went on as the colonists started boycotting goods, as well as culminating in the 1770 massacre that took place in Boston. Thus, one of the causes of the American Revolution was taxation that was imposed on the colonists who felt oppressed by the taxes because they had no representatives in the government (Adelman, 2013).
The Boston tea party also triggered the eruption of the American Revolution. The Townshend Act of the year 1767 incurred taxes on things like glass, paper, lead, as well as tea. Even if the act was repealed in 1770, the tea tax was not included in the repeal. The colonists were furious, and I return, they tried to prevent ships from the East India Company from docking to prevent them from delivering their tea. They were able to board three vessels of the company in the middle of a night where they had pretended to be Mohawk Indians. These people went ahead and threw away 342 chests of tea that were worth a lot of money into the waters of the Boston Harbor (Adelman, 2013). In response, the angered British government wanted to curb the resistance that was building up and bringing the stubborn colonists under control. What the British government did was that they passed the Intolerable Acts.
The Intolerable Acts triggered the establishment of the Continental Congress, and there was the unification of the colonial rebellion against the British. The colonists were denied trials in the courts present in the colony. Thus, those that were to be tried had to be shipped all the way to Britain and be tried in the courts over there. With the Intolerable Acts, the colonists were subjected to very harsh conditions in the colony as their rebellion, especially after the Boston Tea Party had brought debts and a number of negative impacts to the British government (Zoe, 2016). The Boston port was shut down as the colonists were told to repay the losses that had been incurred after the Boston Tea Party. These activities of the British government further increased the anger the colonists had as they were highly oppressed by these acts and the bills that were been passed by the British parliament.
The leaders that were under the Continental Congress had started their leadership roles and had already started forming some militia. However, after King George noted this, he quickly reacted and gave his soldiers the orders to capture the leaders of the rebellion. Eight members who belonged to the colonial militia died when Boston and Concord had an encounter. This spurred more fury to the colonists, and when the British troops went to Concord, the infuriated Americans had ganged up and were eagerly awaiting them so that to engage them in battle. They were waiting for them with heavy casualties that belonged to the British. Thus, the battle that erupted led to the colonial opinion that was in favor of the separation from England (Zoe, 2016).
The loss of the war took Britain to a shock. This is because they realized that their military was not as good as they thought and that they had very powerful enemies out there. Moreover, it left Britain with no allies, and they had to settle the debts that had erupted after the wars. Moreover, the most felt effect was the collapse of the British economy. On the other hand, the economy of the Americans was back to business. However, the loss of the 13 colonies in America made Britain turn their route to Africa and Asia as they sought to reconstruct themselves thus; this led to the start of the second British Empire (Cummings, 2015).
The Americans were very happy with the actions they took because they finally won the battle. Thus, the American Revolution ended up to be a success since they were able to attain their independence from the mighty British. One of the reasons that made the American Revolution to succeed was the intrusion of France. When France joined the Americans to rebel against the British, they brought in reinforcements to the resisting side. Therefore, the Americans got support from the French side making them stronger and ready to rest the British rule. France was able to offer some financial support to the Americans during the course of the American Revolution.
Moreover, the American Revolution succeeded because the Americans came together and united with one common goal of attaining independence....
