Abortion
Anti-abortion campaigners believe that terminating a pregnancy is the same as murdering a baby, but it is also widely held by the general people. "Without a uterus, there is no opinion," as Life Action (2022) recently put it on Facebook. "You don't need a uterus to realize that murdering a kid is terrible," she says calmly. Few people who oppose abortion legalization understand what it would take to treat the embryo as a fully constituted human being. Katie Watson, a Northwestern University bioethicist who just released "Scarlet A: The Ethics, Law, and Politics of Ordinary Abortion," adds in the book that up to 20% of pregnancies terminate in miscarriage, and around 50% of fertilized eggs do not implant. According to a recent study done at the University of Colorado Boulder, restricting abortion access nationwide would result in a 21% increase in total pregnancy-related mortality and a 33% increase among Black women (Koch et al., 2012). These figures do not account for any extra deaths due to unsafe abortions or failed abortion attempts. According to the study's author, Amanda Stevenson, an assistant professor of sociology, "the main point here is that if you deny women abortion, pregnancy-related mortality would increase because being pregnant is riskier to a woman than
