What sorts of personal information should be kept private? Is it even possible today to keep information private?
Some individual information should be kept private. The information includes personally identifiable information, website visits and browsing habits, email and message content, online purchases and financial information and DNA profiles as well as medical records. Personally identifiable information includes someone’s name, email address, physical home addresses, birth date, marital status, employment details, educational background, Social Security numbers and telephone numbers. All such data can provide hackers with sufficient information to perform identity thefts, take loans using the victims’ name and probably compromise accounts that depend on correct answers of security questions. Website visits and browsing habits are monitored by internet service providers which can be hacked, leading to intrusive tailored marketing (Romansky & Noninska, 2020).
