Comparison of Laissez-Faire Leadership to Theory X and Theory Y
Laissez-faire leadership and theory X share a similarity. In both styles, individuals tend to abuse the privileges they have. For instance, in the most common laissez-faire style, financial sector operators prey on unsuspecting citizens to make themselves rich. One can observe similar behavior in those who use positions of power to exert dictatorial authority under theory X. These persons tend to bully their juniors so they can achieve their ends.
Theory Y also compares to laissez-faire leadership because it allows individuals to explore their potential.
