The concept of the greater good can be considered somewhat controlled and manipulated. It can lead to subjective interpretations and conclusions, and the reliability of this ethical concept can be questioned. Utilitarianism can be applied to colonialism, generating both the views that would support and those that would oppose it. If everyone’s happiness is equal, then the happiness of the colonized nations is also equal and important (Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy).
