Week 12: For this week's discussion, read the following:
The alien is enthralled and begins calling its agent and trying to talk you into a book
deal. Of course, it wants to hear more. You pull up a lawn chair and address the
following questions:
1. Based upon your worldview before taking this class how would you describe the
Latino/Hispanic culture?
2. How did you develop this worldview about Latinos/Hispanics? What sources of
information (other people, media, your own experiences, etc.) contributed to your
knowledge of this culture?
3. Now that you have been attending college, has your worldview changed? What
would you like to learn more about this cultural group, especially in regards to
psychology?
The alien is really appreciative about how you are able to share you knowledge in such
an authentic and empathic way and believes it is learning a lot of things it can share
back on it's home planet from humans.

Psy 343 Latino/Hispanic
1 Based upon your worldview before taking this class, how would you describe the Latino/Hispanic culture?
Based on my worldview on the Hispanic culture, I would deem that the Hispanics are religious and like partying. I had the idea as they portrayed respect to God and the dead in their colorful festivities. Their food was uniquely made, and their dances and colors were attributed to each ceremony.
2 How did you develop this worldview about Latinos/Hispanics? What sources of information (other people, media, your own experiences, etc.) contributed to your knowledge of this culture?
I acquired the world view of Hispanics from the history books since the elementary grades. The books, media, and stories from other people made me get a world view of Hispanics and their culture. My classmates would sometimes talk of the Hispanic culture, and one could learn from them.
3 Now that you have been attending college, has your worldview changed? What would you like to learn more about this cultural group, especially in regards to psychology?
By attending college, some of my world view about the Hispanic culture has changed. I had an idea that their culture was inferior. In college, I learned of the superiority and impacts of Hispanic culture and arts on civilization. I want to learn more about the impacts of being subjected to inferiority and labelling.
1 Based upon your worldview before taking this class how would you describe the White/European American culture?
Their culture seems to be the best. The way of living is elevated and civilized with a standard code of conduct. The culture of the whites seems to make them superior among any other race. The male is dominant in the cultural setup. The white race seems civilized due to the use of science and research to solve problems.
2 How did you develop this worldview about White/European American culture? What sources of information (other people, media, your own experiences, etc.) contributed to your knowledge of this culture?
I developed the world view from my interaction and living among white people. Some history books and movies explain the supremacy of the white people and their way of living. Reading hist
