“Pharmacists’ role. Pharmacists are an essential component to any local MRC unit, said
the Surgeon General’s policy adviser. By volunteering, she said, pharmacists can assist a
local community’s emergency response during a public health crisis by helping to
vaccinate residents against smallpox, providing medication information and counseling,
or supplying information about antidotes used to counter a toxic substance that has been
released.
Pharmacists can strengthen and sustain a community’s health care initiatives, she added,
by helping to educate the public and engaging other health professionals in MRC training
programs.”

Pharmacists can help to determine what needs to be a part of the disaster evaluation plan.
With the training that we have through first aid and CPR, we can help out with helping
those with injuries and illnesses. We do not know all like physicans do, but we can assist
in helping those who may have been hurt.

You can have many medical professionals that are a part of the medical reseve corps.
There can also be social workers, psychologists, mental health specialists, or dental
assistants. Various professional associations are also welcome to join. As a pharmacist,
we can assist the community in providing immunizations and antibiotics for the
community members. It is more than just responding to disasters, and emergencies.
Licensed in their profession or even health professional students can be a part of the
MRC.
Public health districts are also a part of the medical reserve corps.
Send a couple of past presentations to them also.

Since its inception, the MRC has shown tremendous growth in the number of volunteering participants who are dedicated at providing health services to their communities and the country at large. The organization has also received substantial support from the government and other private organizations, which are interested to see the MRC’s mission, is sustainable in making the country a safer and healthy place to be. The volunteers at the MRC are trained to perform different roles based on their experiences or profession, though they all work towards realizing a common goal of promoting public health in the county. The various responsibilities of volunteers in MRC include strengthening public health, reduce vulnerability and disaster risk, improve preparedness to potential health risks, build resilience and adaptive capacity, and response and recovery capabilities.
Pharmacists make up a critical component of MRC. Their roles are well defined within the scope of MRC and they involve performing all the basic responsibilities of any MRC member besides the ones that are aligned to their profession, for instance, giving vaccines, and working closely with doctors to find the best treatment, among others. However, pharmacists are underutilized in the U.S healthcare delivery system despite the fact that 92% of the U.S population has adequate access to pharmacies and live within 5 mil...
