This has proven to add value to the learning process through sharing of ideas. In having to review other students work, students get to learn critical thinking skills. Also, learning how to employ empathy makes the students consider how their classmates will feel when they are criticized. Besides, it enhances social and emotional learning skills. This forces students to engage with what they are doing. Peer review encourages the development of objective analysis and evaluation of issues for better judgment. Secondly, peer review is also an effective way of improving students grades mainly on the written assignments. Through peer review, students’ engagement is built-in writing and helps students understand the relationship between their course work and writing. Considering that during peer review in class students are very keen hence a possible mechanism for improvement. This is enhanced by the fact that students are critical to their peers work more than critiques from other students on their work (Ion, et al., 2016).
