Content marketing is now widely used by most businesses. According to Rampton (2016), the five key critical components of content marketing include audience, content, offer, promotion and distribution, and follow-up. The audience component involves making sure everything that is done is geared toward the ideal customer (Rampton, 2016). The offer involves promoting the business in order to capture emails, but not to make immediate sales (Rampton, 2016). The offer proposal should be something that is very valuable to the target audience, which they cannot get anywhere else (Rampton, 2016). This component is followed by promotion and distribution, which involves posting the content online and ensuring all that time and money invested in creating it has not gone to waste (Rampton, 2016). Follow-up, on the other hand, involves nurturing the leads made by sending valuable information, which will boost the credibility and increase trust (Rampton, 2016). All these components are, therefore, instrumental in effective content marketing.
