Abstract
Influenza and pneumonia among the elderly population has increased over the previous years. Flu vaccination is the recommended remedy for minimization of the hospitalization and mortality rates related to influenza and pneumonia. The intervention for eradication of the flu virus is through determination of the flu vaccine efficiency among the elderly population aged 65 years and above. This proposal is an appraisal of the flu vaccine effectiveness when administered to patients among the elderly population in Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Based on the Picot question, the problem description and the stakeholders are identified. A literature search is conducted to ascertain the significance of the intervention. A proposed solution is established, which relies on the Roger’s Diffusion of Innovation Theory for implementation. The implementation process is followed by an evaluation stage, which determines the effectiveness of the outcome as well as providing further recommendations for future practice.

Section A: Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment
Organizational culture is a cluster of norms, values, beliefs and principles that govern the operations of a particular business (Wilson et al., 2015). Notably, assessment of organizational culture and how it is connected to the strategy is crucial in the Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) implementation. This essay will utilize the Culture Acceleration Survey tool to examine organizational culture.
Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation in NY was established in the year 1907 and has prospered based on the alignment of organizational culture to its strategies. Based on the results of the survey, this healthcare organization has a reliable organizational culture which makes it deliver high-quality services to clients. Besides, the employees are satisfied with the current organizational culture. Moreover, the employees partially believe in innovation by adopting change and creativity in the organization. The customer focus of the organization is excellent since the professions focus on customer experience. Apart from customer focus, the management values its employees and invest in employee development and motivation.
The organization has an excellent commitment, reliability, and climate to facilitate readiness to change (Furnham & Gunter, 2015). However, some factors such as conflict, poor communication or poor leadership can act as a barrier towards the implementation of the change strategies. Employee focus score was significantly high since the organization encourages employee development, motivation, and promotions. However, innovation scored low since the healthcare organization responds slowly to technological change (Cameron & Quinn, 2011). Clinical inquiry can be integrated through research to provide knowledge for evidence-based practice. The organization should invest a lot in technological innovation to encourage creativity and flexibility to change.
The stakeholders of the institution will be the facilitators of the evidence-based practice. The practitioners, policy makers, researchers, and investors are the primary facilitators that will be directly involved in implementation of the proposed change. Huntink et al. (2014) examined that stakeholders including health professionals, quality officers, external stakeholders and researchers establish numerous strategies for implementation of evidence-based care for chronic illnesses. The weaker areas identified in the assessment can be strengthened through engagement of the primary stakeholders (Bach-Mortensen, Lange & Montgomery, 2018). The stakeholders will establish change of the organizational culture to eliminate the conflicts and poor leadership as well as enhance technological advancement.
As a whole, an organizational culture survey tool is utilized in the assessment of the Parker Jewish Institute for Healthcare and Rehabilitation’s organizational culture. Essentially, EBP involves the integration of information from patient and research data during the intervention. Notably, implementing EBP requires an assessment of the organizational culture. Accordingly, the examination of organizational culture including strengths and weaknesses of the organization is important in the implementation of an EBP.
Section B: Problem Description
Refined PICOT Question
In adult elderly patients aged 65 years and beyond, how effective is influenza vaccination compared to failing to vaccinate influence the risk of acquiring pneumonia in the flu season?
Description of the Problem
The main issue under consideration is how adoption of influenza vaccine in comparison to not using it influences the possibility of acquiring pneumonia in the flu season. The importance of influenza immunization among the elderly is a controversial issue. Regardless of the opposing views of some researchers, studies have shown that influenza vaccination is efficient in minimizing the chances of contracting pneumonia and influenza. Notably, pneumonia is significantly impacted by the flu, which is the reason why it should be con...
