Clincal Field Experience: Pre-Assessment and Target Learning Activity
Teachers do Pre-assessment activities for a group of students to evaluate their performance and how to improve them depending on learners' responses. These pre-assessment activities really help understand areas in which learners are likely to perform very well and improve on other sectors that their performance is below the required standard. Pre-assessment is an essential tool for any teacher. I took two hours to assess a small group of students. I came up with a simple object that the learners were to answer, and they consisted of elementary questions. The actives that I used during pre-assessment includes:
First, when asking questions with only one answer, learners tend to be very sharp and eager to learn if they don't know the right answer. This form of assessing learners ensures that they hold a larger information capacity since they come in small bits. The method can also be used when giving a procedure of creating something. Students can also give their responses differ depending on which the teacher sees as a better option. The answers could be given orally. It can be through writing and giving it to the teacher to mark. Furthermore, after all, students are done answering the question, their responses are collected together (Misfeldt, 2018). The teacher marks the students' answer sheets and makes his/her comparison on who is right, who was almost right and who did not get it at all. The result is then given back to learners. Lastly, the teacher is then required to tally the result and see how learns are responding. From the students' responses, the teacher can know the strengths and weaknesses of their learners. This enables the teacher to develop targeted teaching in areas that it's clear that learners understand.
Pre-assessment has a significant impact on targeted teaching. After pre-assessment, the teacher can focus on areas that the learner is really interested in and potentially. Targeted teaching ensures that learners don't waste the studying causes that they have no interest in. Furthermore, pre-assessment helps the teachers save on their time when teaching. They know precisely what they should be teaching.
The teacher does formative pre-assessment by asking learners what they know as they are still in the process of learning. According to ( Guskey, (2018) Learners can give out what they learned through self-assessment. They recall what they have studying and see if they still remember them. It can also be done what misconceptions and errors learners know. By doing so, the teacher can give the correct information in case they had the wrong information. Learners' objectives are always aligned to pre-assessment for different purposes. Alignment ensures that teachers are able to pass skills and knowledge to learners can turn. They will also be able
