Effects of the Current Hand Washing Techniques on Surgical Site Infections (Research Paper Sample)

Instructions:

This analysis focuses on the various hand washing techniques by looking at the ways in which these techniques affects infections on surgical sites when patients undergoes post-surgery care. It highlights that proper hygienic practices must be adhered to immediately before handling the patient, before performing aseptic tasks or using invasive devices. Alcohol-based hand washing technique is highly preferable in cases where visible dirt is not common and where there is need to disinfect the hands before handling the patients. While washing hands using normal soap and water removes all the visible dirt and contaminations from body fluids and blood, it may not kill disease-causing pathogens that may cause infection to surgical sites.
