Introduction
‘‘Quality of care is promised by healthcare professions and is liked by patients’’ was a common phrase used when coining definition of ‘‘quality of care’’ (Inoue, 2016) by Institute of Medicine (IOM) that Tobiano et al., (2016) text continues to stress on. Patient-centered care is a quality care concept that can only be achieved if patient participation in healthcare is enhanced (Tobiano et al., 2016). In a similar manner Beaussier et al., (2016) agrees that quality of care is an ambiguous and complex issue that goes beyond prescribed standards and regulation problems in healthcare. This concept analysis explores the quality of care concept, defines terms and attributes. Other than discussing model cases, it also extracts consequences and antecedents from appropriate literature. Besides, the analysis explains the following quality of care attributes: quality of care-related activities, characteristics of medical staff and cooperating with relatives of patients. Notwithstanding, this concept analysis explores theoretical implications of ‘‘quality of care’’ concepts through lenses of quality improvement healthcare theories.
