Asthma attack is a result of exposure to asthma triggers. People react differently to asthma triggers. A person should know the triggers that affect them and avoid them. In case a person is in an area prone to the triggers that affect them, they ought to watch out. Mild asthma attacks are common. After treatment, airways open up within a short time. A person should treat mild symptoms of the attack to prevent severe conditions. It keeps asthma under control.
The main triggers of an asthma attack are allergies. Tobacco smoke is one of the triggers. People smoking cigarettes are likely to get asthma. Symptoms such as coughing and wheezing worsen while pregnant women who smoke increase chances of risking wheezing to their babies. These babies are born with poor lung function (Berger,2008). Dust mites are common in many homes. They trigger asthma attacks. A person should use pillowcases and mattress covers to bar mites from reaching them while asleep. Any animals should not be kept in a bedroom.
External air pollution is another trigger. It originates from cars and factories majorly. A person should follow forecasts from the media to plan activities when air pollution level are not high. Cockroaches are allergens to asthma attacks. It is advisable to get rid of them by removing open food sources around the house. Cleaning of the house should be frequent. Pets are other triggers. Fur from the pets is the main trigger. A person should keep pets far from asthma's patient room. Pets need to be often cleaned and have their homes.
