Comparing the Health Care Systems of the United States, France, and Japan (Research Paper Sample)
a few months ago i decided that i was finally going to start researching and writing again. So, i wanted to re-acclimate myself with how to find good scholarly articles for sources, how to write in a professional and academic tone, how to cite references correctly, and most importantly, how to come up with a good concept for research.
I've always been interested several aspects of international health care. Comparing health care systems can be a highly illuminating activity for a variety of reasons.
I was watching the news one night and the newscast was just destroying the u.s. health care system and going on about how the u.s. system is the worst thing ever created.
that was when i got the idea of doing a literature and research review of three of the top health care systems in the world. i chose the u.s., because i'm american and i wanted to learn more about the system. i selected france because i view them as being on the same level as the u.s. in regards to health care and medical science and technology. Finally, I chose japan because i wanted to compare a country that has a vastly different culture than the two others.
japan is very technologically and medically advanced. however, their culture and way of thinking is a lot different than american or french culture. therefore, i wanted to see if the cultural differences had any effect on the comparison of the health care systems.

Introduction
Health care systems are one of many factors that allow nations to be differentiated from one another. The United States operates a system that mixes public and private funding of health care service while Japan and France operate universal systems. All three of those countries are generally considered to be world powers and leaders but respond to the question of how to handle health care differently. What is the most effective way of providing health care to citizens? This paper will seek to examine the differences between these culture’s health care systems based on: cost and quality, access to insurance, and major areas of concern. Comparisons to other nations are made and future directions are discussed.
United States
The United States devotes a substantial amount of resources to its health care system, is a world leader in medical innovation, and spends more on health care than any other nation. These factors should combine to create one of the best health care systems in the world but actual outcomes show that the U.S. health care system is failing or grossly underachieving.
