You will choose any aspect of the minority experience that interests you and do some research on it. You might, for example, be interested in the wage disparity between men and women. Whatever your topic, you will want to find some credible, scholarly information on this issue that sheds more light on it. You will need at least 3 academic, credible sources which you obtain from the HCCS libraries databases and/or the HCC library catalog (or any other academic database or library catalog to which you have access). While you do your research, you may find that you want to further narrow your topic—for instance, if there is a correlation between ethnic background, gender, and wage. In any case, you will want to discuss with me your preliminary topic as well as what you uncover over the course of your research as soon as possible. I highly recommend that you email me your ideas for your project as soon as possible so I can give you some feedback.

Juvenile Delinquency in the Minority Communities
Juvenile delinquency is a study that has been done for ages and dates back to the early 1920s. The studies were done because of the concern over the increase in neighborhood crimes in the United States. According to Shaw and McKay, juvenile delinquency was mainly concentrated in places like Chicago and other zones of transition (104). These zones were characterized primarily by low economic status and weak social structures. The areas were equally inhabited by people from the minority groups in the United States: The African Americans, the Hispanics, Indian-Americans among many others except for the Asian Americans (Shaw and McKay, 104). Today, many researchers still indicate that Juvenile delinquency is still on the rise among the minority community as compared to their white counterpart. This rate, however, is mainly attributed to the social disorganization of the neighborhoods where the children hail. It is, therefore, okay to say that there exists a correlation between Juvenile delinquency and race and social structures of the communities in the United States.
