Abstract:-Background: This research aim at finding out the impact of the implementation of machine learning in the development of Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSSs). The research also seeks to look into various types of algorithms and how they are applied. Method: This research involves conducting the empirical study by reviewing of literature on various frameworks and projects that have been recently published regarding machine learning and CDSS. Results: Artificial Intelligence, deep learning, and Big Data analytics are the sub-technologies under machine learning whose algorithms are used in the development of CDSSs. The systems are used in areas such as prognosis, diagnosis, lab experiments, dosage administration, among other areas. Conclusion: Machine learning is taking over control on the clinical decision-making processes. But, over-reliance on the systems is an issue that is posing a great theat.
