It is 2005; Katrina Hurricane goes to Daisy Fuller who is sick, close to death and asks Caroline, her daughter, that she reads from Button’s diary. A revelation that comes out of the reading is that on the 11th day of November 1918, a male child was born who had defects that portrayed that of a senior man. The mother to the born baby died, but the man who fathered the child, Thomas Button, leaves the newborn at the birthplace. Mr. Weathers who works in the clinic take the baby and decides to care for him. The child is named Benjamin Button.
The child learns to walk seven years later, and instead of a wheelchair, he uses crutches. Five years later, Benjamin meets Daisy and the two become great allies. Coincidentally, Daisy’s grandmother also lives in the birthplace of Benjamin Button. Daisy is welcomed into a company that majored in dance, under the choreography leadership of George Balanchine.
Benjamin later accepts to work with a team in a tugboat, and where he meets his father, Thomas. Their tugboat has Mike Clark as the captain; they are subjected to work in the New Orleans.
In Murmansk, Benjamin starts an affair with British Minister of Trade’s wife, Elizabeth Abbott. At the end of the year, the Japanese attacks the Pearl Harbor, where Benjamin and the crew work, and Mike is forced to volunteer his boat to the U.S soldiers so that it could assist them to do patrols, of which at the time many bodies of dead American soldiers were found. Four years later, Benjamin gets back to New Orleans and finds time together with Queenie, and later on, he meets and gets together with Daisy. At the dinner, Daisy fails to seduce Benjamin and leaves him at the dinner table. Thomas Button, at his point of death, reveals to Benjamin that he is his father, and therefore gives him all his wealth in the will.
Benjamin calls on Daisy who now lives in New York but on learning that Daisy is having an affair with another man, he immediately leaves back for New Orleans. Daisy’s career in dancing ends in 1954 after her leg having been crashed in an accident that involved a motorcar in France. At the visit of Benjamin, she learns that the man appears so youthful. However, she does not want to allow herself to accept him due to her injuries.
Daisy goes back to New Orleans in the spring of 1962 and comes back together with Benjamin. At the time, the two seem to be of the same age, and therefore begins an affair. He traveled solely to a new land in 1970.
Ten years later, he returns to Daisy who is already married, and therefore introduces him to her family as a friend to their family. Summary and description of issues facing individuals in this movie
First, physically, there is a contrast between Benjamin Button and Daisy, whose developments have been clearly shown. Benjamin is born old and grows younger while Daisy is born normally and grows old. As an “old man,” Benjamin exhibits the features of old people, like Walking with Crutches. As years go on, he becomes younger and exhibits the very traits of age groups that he fits, for example, dating someone else’s wife, who is considerably old. As he becomes younger, he dates Queenie, who is usually at the age of marriage. However, as he gets to a youth stage, he can seduce Daisy and the two move in together CITATION San15 \l 1033 (Santrock, 2015).
Different cognitive traits are also exhibited in the movie. First, Thomas Button does not want to identify with the “old” child and abandons him. However, as Benjamin becomes of age and he becomes younger, the father reveals the truth that indeed he is the father of Benjamin. At the same time, Daisy is also portraying a lot of cognitive reasoning. For instance, she could not seduce Benjamin at their first date and leaves him at dinner. However, she later learns that the man was growing youthful and had to give in to dating and even marrying him. Benjamin sees the sense that he could not be a father with his abnormal growth and as a result leaves the family alone, yet pays a visit to his wife and daughter as a family friend. Mike also shows the sense of assisting the U.S troops with his boat so that they can use it for patrols.
Socio-emotional traits exhibited in the movie are portrayed in the way Benjamin handles his perceived peers, love. As the age at which he appea...
