Incubation in Creative Problem Solving
Introduction
Incubation, the ability to subject the subconscious mind to a wide range of temporary distractions has often been regarded useful to investigations on creativity output. The relationship between concentration on a task and corresponding effects by processes of interference is an outcome with a range of determinant models (Gilhooly, Georgiou & Devery, 2013). Depending on the nature of work under performance and mental activities induced on them, the possibility of an enhanced result of creativity records a close gap in its relationship with incubation (Angello, Storm & Smith, 2015). Since creative problems and new approaches are core to the escalation of solutions to a solver, a convenient, regular and reliable method of expanding creativity output is required. As such, researchers have embarked and engaged contemporarily on experimental and observational setups to find the determinants of the maximum creative subconscious (Hao, Ku, Liu, Hu, Grabner & Fink, 2014). Some well-known analyses of creative problem solving have suggested incubation as a stage in which a problem is set aside and not consciously addressed (Burnett, 2015). Following this concept, a body of research has extensively been conducted on incubation effects. The analysis of this paper is therefore based on the comparing the strengths and weaknesses of different findings by studies on varying parameters of experimental consideration for the effect of incubation on creativity output.
