1.0 Introduction to the concept
Industrial-Organizational psychology is a branch of psychological studies that concerns with application of workplace theories and principles to an organizational setting. According to Raggio (2017), the main focus of this discipline is to increase workplace productivity and address the related issues like mental and physical well-being of employees. This concept approaches an organization in two sides. The first is the industrial side that concentrating how best to match individuals to their specific job roles, thus may be regarded as personnel psychology. It may involve assessing employee characteristics then fitting them to tasks they are likely to perform well, and may also include employee training, development of job performance standards and measuring performance through appraisals (Gruman & Saks, 2011). The other side is the organizational, which concentrates more on understanding how the organization affect individuals or workforce behaviors. It includes investigating how social norms, organizational structures, management styles, and role expectations influences the behaviors of employees in a workplace setting. In such attribute, I-O psychology is summarized as an area of scientific study and professional practice that addresses psychological principles and concepts in the work environment. The key concepts investigated include ergonomics, training and development, employee selection, work life, performance management, and organizational development. In connection to this, this paper will elucidate this concept based on the current newspaper publication, and support with relevant articles.

As illustrated in the introduction, there are a lot of concepts that the organizational psychology addresses in an organization. Work place safety is also an issue of concern when it comes to improvement of organizational productivity. It is one of the factors that attaches to motivation of employees towards their productivity. According to a news article publication on the same, Yang (2019) implores on this by relating to the negative consequences that may result from the bullying bosses. According to the article, the presence of bullying bosses in an organization may not only be detrimental to the morale of employees but also their well-being and overall workplace safety.
3.0 Literature analysis based on the news article
The article acknowledges the fact that the organizational bosses can either strengthen employee’s sense of belonging to a work group by supporting or undermining their status within the group. Based on many psychological research work, workplace motivation is one of the fundamental factors that improves workplace satisfaction and improves productivity of the workers. In the same way, promoting a health team is very integral towards motivation.
