Effects of Cannabis on Women and Men’s Ability to Procreate
Introduction
Cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang, is one of the most consumed psychoactive substances across the world. However, it’s psychological, emotional, and economic effects increasingly alarming. Besides, some recent scientific developments highlight that the use of cannabis sativa presents some severe impacts on both the men and women’s fertility, which significantly affects procreation. In 2013, a group of WHO (World Health Organization) researchers estimated that over 180 million individuals aged 60 years and below are involved in nonmedical consumption of the drug (Hsiao & Clavijo., 2018). Hypothetical analyses depict the use of cannabis has continued to heighten globally due to the claims that the drug causes calming and relaxation effects.
Furthermore, some states, including various U.S. states, recommend the use of cannabis. Their recommendation is based on various scientific studies on the substance showing that the drug is useful in correcting diverse medical conditions, which might include but not limited to poor appetite, glaucoma, and chronic pain. Therefore, taking into perspective the fact that cannabis is a product of nature, it can impose both positive and negative implications on the consumers. However, the adverse health effects on users have not only raised major debates but have also inspired contemporary scientists to investigate life-threatening effects linked with the consumption of the substance in middle and high-income economies. As such, the study intends to examine if and how the usage of cannabis the female and male’s ability to procreate.
