Introduction
Technological advancements have contributed to the digitalization of operations in many organizations. Different domains in the society depend significantly on technology including industry, commerce and interactions (Agrafiotis, Nurse, Goldsmith, Creese, & Upton, 2018). Although technology has resulted in significant improvements in such areas, primarily through the massive internet usage, it has further increased the exposure of individuals and organizations to a broader scope of risks resulting from cyber-attacks through various digital interfaces.
The increasing vulnerabilities in the infrastructure of the computing cloud have recently been discovered in the modern hardware and software, thus increasing the risk for cyber threats, especially for organizations with computing infrastructure in the public cloud. Cyber-attacks result in reduced performance, resulting in a potential increase in computing costs for the affected organizations. Unfortunately, lack of efficient tools, metrics and baseline for understanding and assessing the harm imposed by cyber-attacks on organizations forms the benchmark for the unproductive nature of the cyberattacks threats landscape.
