Entrepreneurialism: How Age, Gender and Multiple-Ownership Contribute to Failed Entrepreneur's Reentry
Entrepreneurship is a critical driver of today's global economy, a sector that employs millions of people in the 21st century. Research findings reveal that the number of men who pursue the business sector is almost twice that of women (Kim, Aldreich, and Keister, 2006). The gender disparity is fueled by existing systems such as culture and the banking sector limiting credit access. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic greatly affected entrepreneurial activity across the globe and almost collapsed stock markets. However, the ongoing vaccinations have spelt a boost for businesses, with most countries open for investments. This study focuses on how factors like gender, age, and multiple-owner experiences contribute to the failed entrepreneurial regenerations. The present study evaluates the personality traits depicted by males instead of females, young against old, and single versus multiple-owners with entrepreneurship intentions.
Literature Review
Scholars have made sincere efforts to address entrepreneurial failures, but the field remains relatively new. For instance, men and women choose unlike career preferences at different career stages for specific reasons (Jennings & Brush 2013, p.669). There are no uniform characteristic observables in failed entrepreneurial attempts, nor is there reentry. Kotlar et al. (2014, p.4) acknowledged the probability that an entrepreneur can brush off after a setback in their early stages of life.
