Abstract
The scientist-practitioner model has significantly played a great role in professional training in several countries from the day of its formulation. It was formulated on the assumption that psychologists who have undergone training opt to have knowledge in both clinical practice and research. A professional who has trained and acquired education in practice or research but not both at the same time is viewed as one who does not fulfill the model requirements. The model’s goal is to integrate science as well as practice in psychology to introduce distinctively experienced personals to be employed in a range of human service, health, and organizational settings. Despite its achievements regarding critical thinking skills, critics believe it is outdated, so costly, and time-consuming. In an attempt to solve these issues, scientists have come up with the local clinical scientist model.
