Introduction
Sexual identity refers to how one perceives themselves regarding sexual attraction to members of the other sex, same sex or both.it also refers to being heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual (Alvarez and Sonia). Normative sexual identities have influenced the formation of sexual rights movements such as homophile movement globally including America. Social movements play the role of championing for liberation and promotion of equal rights for instance marriage equality. In doing so, the politicized sexual identities have led to the emerging possibilities and tension among the activists (Goodwin and James). For instance, the opportunity to re-conceptualize and to accommodate local and regional diversity, increased conservatism and backlash, attack to the women who are rights activists, support from the public and private donors and conflicts within the movements.
