Fertility and Infertility Issues
When God created Adam and Eve, he commanded them to procreate and fill the world. Thousands of years later, the human race is still passionate about fulfilling the orders of filling the earth. It is essential to understand that irrespective of race, language, social class, and religion, every couple wants to have children and continue their lineage. However, not all couples are lucky in this regard. According to Agarwal (1), globally, about 15% of couples are facing infertility issues, amounting to 48.5 million people, and this shows the gravity of the situation. Fertility issues affect both men and women, although women face much of the brunt regarding infertility issues in developing nations.
Infertility is a major cause of concern, especially for women in developing countries. According to the World Health Organization, the agony of infertility among women in developing nations is severe (1). In Africa, women facing infertility issues are often discriminated, and seen as less of women as compared to women who can have children. In a World Health organization report of 2004, in sub-Saharan African, more than 30% of women aged 25-49 have secondary infertility. In Africa, Latin America, and Asia, if a couple is unable to have children, the blame is usually shifted to the woman, though men contribute about 50% of infertility cases. Today, many women are living the nightmare of not having children, yet in some cases, it is their spouses who have problems. Therefore, infertility issues continue to be a major cause of concern in developing nations.
