Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Crime prevention program Introduction The crime prevention program is basically the strategies on how to reduce crimes in the society and help individuals have secure places they can rely. Some of the programs are: community policy, neighbors on watch programs youth mentoring programs. Programs            Community policy is the partnership with law and enforcement agencies to identify and address crimes by working with the police on close footpaths. Neighbors on watch programs reduce crimes by encouraging residents to work together and youth mentoring program helps by encouraging youth to stay out of trouble (Lee et al. 232).                According to (Lee et al. 232) target hardening is one of the prevention programs which works by ensuring that your property will not be available for criminals to access. For example, using secure passwords will make it difficult for a hacker to hack and get access to your information. Also, improving locks on business premises, houses, and offices will make it hard for one to break in instead of using normal breakable locks which anyone can trespass on. Therefore, target hardening lowers the rate at which crimes will occur.                Reducing the means that will assist the offender to commit the crime. This method involves putting away items that promote the offense e.g., putting away ladders that help a criminal climb up a house, and tools that a criminal can stab you with or commit a crime with. Putting tools away is a way to reduce crimes in the community.                Surveillance. This is a strategy that is up to date that lowers crimes by making an offender feel like he is being watched. It includes the installation of CCTV cameras along the streets, in front door houses, and in places crimes are mostly committed. This discourages acts of crime in the community (Leheza et al. 81).                Environmental change is by ensuring that one's property is well taken care of. For example, removing garbage off your property as such places are welcoming for offenders to commit crimes. If you look at places like slums you will find out that more crimes are committed as compared to estates (Leheza et al. 2023).                According to (Norman and Smith 51) target removal is a program that starts with an individual taking responsibility to keep the criminal out of sight of your property. This involves closing windows that keep things like laptops, bags, and phones out of sight, looking at doors, etc.                Rule-setting behaviors. this is done by introducing rules such as the last person should close the ga...
