Psychology Assignment. Adoption of Policies in the Police Department. (Research Paper Sample)

Instructions:

Problem Solution/Research Essay
Background:Claims of policy argue that certain conditions should exist. As the name suggests, they advocate adoption of policies or courses of action because problems have arisen that call for solutions. The words should or ought to or must are almost always expressed or implied in the claim. Claims of policy often require you to build upon fact claims. You may need to establish with a claim of fact that there is a problem needing a solution before establishing a solution.
• Six scholarly sources required, in addition to sources from the textbook. Any Internet sources cited in the essays written in this class must be confined to the following domains: .edu, .gov. or .mil. (The only exception to this rule is sources that are found through the college's databases.) Please review what a scholarly article is before using a source in your paper. Newspapers, magazines, and most internet sites do not qualify as scholarly.
At least ONE quote from EACH article must be incorporated in the paper.
• Length: Minimum of 6 full pages not counting the REQUIRED works cited page (Note: Less than 6 full pages of essay will receive no higher than a D grade)

Adoption of Policies in the Police Department
Solutions and claims of policy propose certain ways of adoption based on altering an existing rule that is either insufficient for dealing with an immoral situation or helpful to its continuation. An outstanding example is the claim that “Football causes numerous injuries and should be banned altogether.” Arguing such a statement may require debating a combination of claims and involving several procedures. A factual prerogative should establish that a condition exists, a significance claim proving the condition is bad, and a reason and effect assertion pinning the blame on a particular policy that, if transformed, will advance the situation and may play a substantial role in the general argument. Recent history displays that a substantial number of citizens, globally, are now pursuing legal action against police agencies once law enforcement officers encroach upon their civil rights. Regularly, the events that precede grievances occur due to poor strategy, preparation, and early counsel by law enforcement interventions.
Law enforcement workers face inspiring work and experience copious critical incidents over the development of their professions. Officers should resolve such conditions effectively (for instance, make arrests) and habitually respond first to ensuing actions; thus, the officers are required to also provide emotional and physical backing to victims of crimes. Therefore, law enforcement agencies need to incorporate mental readiness training into strategic exercises to moderate the effects of trauma on officers.
