THE MORAL, SOCIAL, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF CHILD SOLDIERS
Introduction
Throughout human history wars of all kinds have killed countless numbers of soldiers and civilians alike. The causes of conflict are wide-ranging and far too complicated to define, although there are two fundamental ways to look at war, internally and externally. Internally observing war deals with the physical and social destruction caused by the fighting itself and the economic problems that battleground countries face after the war is concluded. External observation (the most common way Americans view war) entails the reasons the conflict took place, the geopolitical issues the conflict creates, and measures to stop the war non-participating and participating countries do to end the conflict. It is essential to keep these two concepts of observing war in mind as you read through the following text. These two concepts are vital to this discussion because without an understanding of the factors that cause conflict no one can prevent war.
While tools of war have changed throughout history from the stone and spear to modern aircraft and firearms, one device has remained unchanged since Cain and Abel, man himself. There has never been an argument, never will there be a war that men do not fight and die. While “man” is defined in convectional English as an individual human or an adult male, man and men in war vocabulary do not currently and has never meant an adult male.
