Milestone One: Literary Analysis Proposal
Theme:
The theme I have selected is survival since it most resounds to every individual despite the distinguished life and lifestyles he or she leads. In all three books, the overarching theme that keeps the protagonist going is their goal of survival, which motivates them to keep persisting despite the overwhelming and dangerous situations they face. The relentless courage the protagonists and other characters show is truly interesting to study, and something readers must try to mimic in their own lives. Thus, by focusing on the theme of survival, one can understand the true literary abilities of the writers in terms of how they present day-to-day survival issues characters face and the long-term goal of survival amongst other goals they strive to achieve.
Two Books:
The two books I intend to use for this paper are Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, since both the books are profoundly based on the theme of survival.
