Abstract
Sustainable development has a positive effect on the social and economic developments between environmental protections so that the interests of the future and current generations can be balanced. “The United States Report of World Commission on Environment and Development (1987)”, suggests that sustainable development is a form of development that meets the market demands and needs without effecting any requirement of the future generations. Awareness of sustainability has increased. Retail stores are becoming aware of the initiatives that they can take for reducing their energy consumption. Customers have also started using and preferring products that are eco-friendly and save energy. Therefore the retail stores must also involve in preparing strategies that can lower their budgets and improve their brand name.
