The human resource management and company owners play a significant role when it comes to hiring new workers. Murphy (2011) says that attitudes and not skills help to define the high and low performances from any employee. The article ‘How to Hire New People’ is interesting in many ways. A person hiring must check the integrity of the person being interviewed and maintain the truth throughout. From the writers’ perspective, one interesting thing shown is that the interviewer should not base their interview on the education credential when hiring. However, what matters is the intellectual curiosity and skills to work and lead other employees to achieve company goals. An interviewee should show positive energies, show ability to energize other people, capability to make the tough, but useful decisions and then execute the job given by the managers.
As a result of reading the "How to Conduct Interviews" article, discuss whether the information is new to you or if you think it is new to the typical student in BNAD 301
The information may appear new to a BNAD 301 students. First, it seems that a student knows that during the interview, there are questions asked. However, the type of questions and the manner in which they come is what makes it new to them. Steingold (2008) advises that when interviewing many people for the same position, the managers must make the interview similar to all those attending. The interviewers have a better comparison. Besides, this helps to keep the questions standard and same. Making sure you have ample time to avoid the feeling of rushing. A student who reads this will find differently structured analysis about the questioning formula. For example, any good interview must be structured in four categories. These are the fact finding questions, those that require creative thinking, problem-solving questions and the behavioral questions. The first set of fact finding questions is just to get the experiences, credentials and skills. This can also be seen in the papers presented. When asking the creative thinking question during interviews, they must cover broader queries. In fact, these questions help the interviewer know if the interviewee can grasp the business trends. On the other hand, the problem-solving questions make a person solve particular issues. During the questioning, one must show oriented and technical skills applied to solve a given task. One should never forget to ask the behavioral questions. In fact, this will help to know if one can fill that position. These behavioral questions help to discover if employees act well in an event happening. The answers given here shows the employee fits the company culture. The interviewing process must be done in person where you see how they behave and react. For each interview session held, it must have an agenda. This is where many people fail. As a student in BNAD 103, it is easy to assume that the interview does not have an agenda.
What is the most difficult article read? Provide the title/reference to the article and in about 250 words describe why you found the article challenging. What made it difficult? Explain
The most difficult article among the two is the one titled ‘Conducting Employment Interviews – Hiring How To’. According to me and any other person undertaking the interview, there are many things done wrong. According to Wall Street Journal (2014), the interviews must be prepared well in advance. This means the people interviewing a person must create the agenda and come up with a way of interviewing. This is quite challenging because it does not exist among many people. A person comes into the interview room and asked questions randomly without having a specific time frame to do the whole interview.Another challenging fact from this article is the manner in which a person divides the questions to ask. If you have attended an interview, many interviewers will ask and mix the questions. However, the piece is ideal at it helps to define how one should differentiate the questions during the interviewing process. First, they must start with the fact finding questions to understand the interviewee, and then ask creative questions, go to the prob...
