Studies conducted have indicated that poverty has played a significant role in affecting education in the United Kingdom. In evaluating the demographics of the United Kingdom, it is vivid that there is a larger population of children hailing from families that can be categorized as low-income earning families. Poverty as indicated in the United Kingdom; it is vivid that it has managed to affect various sectors of the United Kingdom economy significantly. Among these sectors that have been affected by poverty is the education sectors. Education in the United Kingdom is usually an essential sector in the economy as it is vital in nurturing the lives of most children with the primary aim that they can secure a brighter future. However, in evaluating the high dominance of poverty in the United Kingdom, it is vivid that children belonging to poverty-stricken families are at a higher risk of their education being negatively affected by poverty due to various reasons.
Poverty undermines the academic progress of these children in schools due to the lack of proper educational guidance. Poverty usually subjects a significant population of children affected with poverty to harsh living conditions that are not suitable to provide a healthy environment that can facilitate these children academic progress. Surveys conducted relating to children education and poverty have indicated that most of the parents and guardians of children affected by poverty are usually busy looking for income thus leading them to have minimum interest in the academic lives of these children (Fitzsimons, Goodman, Kelly, and Smith, 2017, 44). The harsh living environment that these children are subjected to play a significant role in undermining the stimulation process of children in terms of academic.
