Executive Summary
Harley Davidson, Inc. is an American motorcycle manufacturer of heavyweight models and their spare parts. The company was founded in 1903 by William Harley, Arthur, and Walter Davison; whole helped to coil the name, Harley Davidson. Davidson, in his family, shed made a three horsepower engine which was their modest model that the company began with. V-twin engine resulted in a classic deep rumbling sound has become more synonymous with Harley. The success of Harley started in 1953 when Indian Motorcycles factory was closed making him the survivor of over 150 US motorcycles producers that had existed before during the 1910 era.
The company has played a significant role within the maidens of American Society for over a hundred years. The company majors in the production and marketing of quality bikes and cruiser parts making it wholesaler and stock retail financial partner for its clients in the US and Canada. After Harley had survived the closure of the factory in 1953, they had to devise ways of making their business more competitive globally. They, later on, adopted the inclusion of e-Commerce business for managing of cruiser parts, other related items, and administration services (Girdler & Hackett, 2001).
Problem statement
Harley-Davidson could not successfully undertake its activities smoothly since some problems hindered some business activities. With the emergence of the post-war era, the youth culture came with consequences of growth on demand for motorcycles. The company had a great vision for the changes that would have been incurred in the business environment. For that reason, it had to look for people with mindset to work amid powerful capacity. That involved the needs and mutual values that people were looking for from the company and strong believe for the organization as support from their clients.
Despite Harley-Davidson having strong support from the US people, its operational demand was being channelled to satisfy the foreigners as it imported most of its items. This came as a result of an increase in the shares of the Japanese based companies and British companies dominating over 49% of the US market. With administration’s effort to reinforce the gain of trust from the representatives, it had to ensure that groups of labourers are formed to face the challenges when they tend to be out of the company’s control position. Therefore, Harley decided to come up with a learning focus whose sole objective was to equip the less skilled staff with knowledge and skills of managing their work routines easily without being manned. The stuff was also obligated to offer services to the representatives who had the interest of still being updated (Sandretto, 2012). 
Causes of the Problem
Harley-Davidson Inc. faces major problems based on core market which was termed to be in a state of being in a baby boomer generation which focused much on moving to retirement homes than outdoor sports areas. Most affected persons would always stay asking themselves if the next generations of this machines would have the same noise effect and if it shall be passed to the next generation. On another highlight, this problem regarding innovation with Harley kept on posting a threat to them as their rival counterparts (BMW, Honda, and Yamaha) channelled their interest on technology. That could be linked to the failure of the administration on changes of value than sticking on outdated methods and programs, as well as being considerate to workers while showing some respect for them. Also, it is the mandate of the company’s leadership to cultivate trust among the workers and those in authority so that change is impacted by the running programs.
As Harley kept on extending their market to the old aging generation, the likes of BMW, Honda, and Yamaha were on high note gaining the interest of the younger generation. This mistake was as a result of Harley being patriotic to statements that had no value in business. They thought that being a pioneer in any business activity would demand the need for constituting positively in the societal level.
Decision Criteria and Alternative Solutions
Going through Harley-Davidson Inc. made both strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats to be noted.
