Torture is a category of psychological conflict used to disruption the will of convicts. Death, agony and prison remain to be part of day-to-day life for some members of the United States of America. These citizens are not equal to free man, my friends and I at their age; they are not frightened. They are not what some of us are. They embrace hands and cry: 'Don't be scared! Don't be scared! We are together!' They comprehend that no one will give them their civil liberties; they must go get them. Author Maura Moynihan wrote “Torture Chic: Why Is the Media Glorifying Inhumane, Sadistic Behavior?" published on February 3, 2009. On her works, Moynihan argues that media crusades by the former president George W. Bush government, the
TV play “Dexter” about a serial killer, and fashion shows in which models were kitted out as torture sufferers. Maura claims that these media imageries make torture by the government of the US further administratively prevalent and harm humanity. The central conservative truth is that it is ethos, not politics, that governs the achievement of the social order. The fundamental substantial reality is that politics can transform a culture and save it from itself. However, Americans must be suspicious of standardizing social pathology that results in trauma.

Additionally, In the same article by article, Maura, outlines how Americans overwhelmingly rejected the use of torture as an instrument of the state by President George W. Bush regime. She continues to highlight some of the tactics employed by the Bush administration to legalize torture. This included the bill of rights that was crafted by W. Bush media campaigners to authorize torture by the government. She continues to highlight some of the forums that were used by the white house to rubber stamp their authority, is comprised of the courts and legislature. Moynihan says the policy made incidences of stunning progress which were followed by up surging stabilization of torture images in prevalent culture, rising acceptance of violence as actual, repetitive.
The practice of torture remains a broadly disputed matter when it arises to the behaviour of military prisoners. torture is presently barred by the United National Convention Against Torture, nonetheless it is still legalized under the law of U.S. The United National Convention Torture defines torture as any act by which unembellished pain or grief, whether corporeal or psychological, is deliberately imposed on an individual for such determinations as obtaining from him, or a third being, information or a admission, exhausting him for an act he or a third person has dedicated or is alleged of having committed, or intimidating or pressuring him or else a third person, or for any purpose grounded on judgement of any kind, when such discomfort or sorrow is imposed by or at the urging of or with the accord or agreement of a public official or other individual acting in an endorsed capacity.
However, the end of the article lacks the same level of effectiveness in the appeals to ethos. For example, Moynihan notes that when individuals tortured, they are considered to be “’enacting “small instances of suffering. The usage of the word “chic” is quaking to the person who read the article; unprofessional and immature, it is a shift from the researched, intelligent voice she has established and the reader is less likely to take the author seriously. This damage the strength of her credibility and her argument.
Lately, it appears that three out of five contributions at the resident Cineplex are tales of clever and sprightly torturers and serial killers. This mass marketing of the murderer, sadist and child molester endows the deviant with a fictitious intelligence [and] the presence of a rich and complex "inner life," a particularly annoying Hollywood buzzword.
