A statistic refers to a single measure of a selected population. A population consists of a diverse group of people. Statistics refers to a process by which data is collected, organized, analyzed, interpreted and presented (Dodge, 2006). A researcher may use statistics to arrive a conclusion after analyzing the data. The conclusion would be considered valid because of the presence of numerical evidence from the statistics.
