Management and operations is a field that works towards controlling and designing the production and activities of commodities and services. Management and operationsensure that the business resources are put in the correct use and that the day-to-day business operations run effectively. As a matter of fact, leaders and managers play a primary role in the operation and success of any business and organisation.Managersand leaders have a significant impact on the management and efficient operation of any institution. A leader refers to a person who influences individuals and serving the very people by giving them the tools they need to be successful in future. Leaders controlpeople by acting as role models and giving the very individuals a reason to work forward without having to hesitate or look backwards. Managers on the other, another hand, a manager refers to a person who is in control of a given group of tasks or a section of an organisation, in most cases, a managerhappens to have a staff of individuals who report to him/her and takes instructions from him or her. Charismatic leadership and excellent management are the keys to thesuccess of any organisation. This paper covers the roles, responsibilities, and models of leadership and administration among others(Childe, 2017).

Roles and Responsibilities of a Leader
A leader plays anessential role in the management and operation activities of any organisation, some of the roles played by the leaders in an organisation include:
* Leadership is critical at all levels of management. Leadership is significant in the formulation of strategic policies and plans in the top level management. Besides, leadership is required in the middle and lower level management for the purpose of interpretation and sequential execution of the programs and plans articulated by the top management. Leaders are given the responsibility of guiding and counselling the low-level employees and subordinates during the implementation of the top management programs for better results.
* A leader acts as an organisation’s representative, a leader represent the concern of a team in seminars and meetings. A leader airs the rationale of a business association to the general to pin a good name to the enterprise. Besides, a head represents the department he or she leads.
* A leader plays the role of coordination and reconciliation of the employee’s goals with the organisational goals towards a common objective. A leader, through their leadership qualities,integrates the efforts of individuals towards the desired purpose to achieve the organisation’s set goals.
* A leader acts as a manager. Besides, he or she invites cooperation and support of the foundation’s support. Following a leader’s skills of intelligence, maturity and experience, the leadercan cite suggestions and in some cases implement the ideas into business programs and plans of the organisation. The leader influences the willingness of the employees to work and thereby to ensureefficient running of the corporation’s operations.
* A leader acts as a philosopher, a friend and a guide to an organisation. A leader is a friend to the employ of trying to influence the employee’s attitude for the betterment of the enterprise operations. The leader can be a guide to communicating and supervising the employee’s policies and plans of top management to achieve the organisation’s goals.
Besides the many roles of a leader in an organisation, a leader is also charged with someresponsibilities which are a key to the running and success of any business. Some of the responsibilities of a leader include the following:
* A leader should inspire and motivate others towards doing the essential work towards running the business.
* A leader should setan example and act as a role model to influence others towards achieving the organisation’s objectives.
* A leader should communicate vision which organises all of the corporation’s employee’s efforts.
* A leader is required to set an agency’s priorities by breaking down their idea into a series objectives which can be executed sequentially. The employee’s hard work could be misled if it is subjected into doing the wrong task.
* A leader is expected to be a solution seeker. Unexpected problems always arise regardless of how cleared and detailed once goals and objectives seem to be.
Roles and Responsibilities of a Manager
Managers don’t just wake up go to their workplace and start working haphazardly; they are expected to discover and master their many roles which include(Childe, 2017).
* The manager plans for the organisation’s operations, he or she maps out how to achieve the corporation’s goals. The director outlines the steps to be followed towards the achievement of the organisation’s aims and objectives. Through the establishment of an effective plan, the manager candevelop the right plan towards the attainment of the company’s purpose and goals.
* The manager organises his or her team following the incorporation of the business plan. The managersassign various responsibilities to his or her team and grants the authority to his or her team.
* A manager performs the staffing role by recruiting, developing and training of employees. In large companies, managers in most cases work in the human resource department to achieve the staffing function.
* A manager acts as a leader to his or her team by motivating, communicating, encouraging and guiding his or her team.
* The manager also controls the organisation. After all the managerial elements such as planning, organising, staffing, just to mention a few are put in place, the manager regularly checks the progress towards the achievement of the company’s goals and take necessary corrective measures.
In addition to the roles played by the managers at various management levels, managers are also charged with a number of responsibilities. Some of these responsibilities include:
* Leadership, a good manager goes beyond what the managercan do but what he or she can influence others to do. A leader should give people directions and help them achieve what they could otherwise not have accomplished.
* A manageris charged with the management responsibility. He or she should be in a position to oversee the operations of their departments. Besides, the manager should ensure all his department’s requirements are met within the required time.
* An activemanager delegates the staff’s workload efficiently and supervises the progress towards the completion.
It goes beyond any reasonable doubt that there are crucial differences between a leader and a manager. Regardless of the fact that they both play a significant role towards the nourishment and development of a company. Some of the distinctions between a leader and a manager are outlined below:
* A leader innovates, on the other hand, a manager administers. A leader comes up with new ideas and enables the organisation to think beyond limits. A leader is required to be informed and thoughtfully updated about the latest skills, studies and trends. On the hand, a manager just maintains an already established contents. The manager keeps the bottom line and maintains control of the organisation.
* A leader is responsible for inspiring trust on the people whereas a manager relies wholly on control. A leader inspires others to be at their best. For the managers, they are tasked to maintain control over individuals by assisting such people to build their assets by exploiting their talents.
* In most scenarios, leaders tend to ask the questions, “what” and “why” whereas the managers ask the question “how” and “when”. The leaders can stand up to the top management regardless of the situation. The managers only focus on the achievements of the company’s goals with little concerns about the failures.
Leadership and management are the keys to efficient running and success of any business. Leaders and managers tend to give the companies the direction leading to the success of the industries. Considering the Google Inc. among any other well-known companies. Google has been successful in its operations because of the charismatic leadership displayed by its employees and its style of management. The Google Inc. were started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin who developed a search engine corporation after meeting in In the Stanford PhD program in Computer Science. Research and independent thinking have contributed towards the leadership style of the Googlecompany especially towards empowering the Company’s employees to come up with new ideas and implement them. Besides, the Google Company has a very strict policy of recruiting only class-A employees and presenting them the opportunity to exercise creativity. Besides the leadership at Google. The company also employees competent leaders such as Larry Page, who acted as the Chief Executive Office and other experienced leaders such as Bill Campbell who ensured the smooth running of the Company and the Google Company continues to grow and still exists in the present day not to mention its elegant characteristics (Spring, 2017).
