Information system management is vital in any organization. The significant benefits accrued to information system development are enormous. Management information system has been determined by the interaction of various aspects of management. This sector entails categories of people, organizations, and groups of people performing different tasks in running a firm. Through technology, various steps in production have been achieved. Main functions are to evaluate, design processes and utilize available system in the generation of information that guides the company in the determination of the position of any company. The management and other stakeholders have continued to apply various technological aspects in management to promote productivity. Maximum utilization of resources in the company is also achieved. Additionally, information systems help the management to create good people relations in the company. As stipulated by KESSLER et al., (2009), the major emphasis of information management systems it to ease work done by people. Also emphasis on how the business or corporation achieve smooth running of running is considered.

Energy management system (EMS) software is another program software that is used by our corporation to the SCADA. Energy management system EMS is one of the new system being implemented in our corporation. The system has not been in operation for long, but its importance is huge. It experts have contributed to management of these major industries by incorporation of systems that track and monitor various processes in major industries.1.0 Development methodologies applied in implementation of software programs
There are different software development methodologies applied in software engineering. Software development methodologies offer platform and framework for the structure, plan and the control process of a certain information system. The mode of application of these methodologies depends on the urgency and requirements of a certain system as it performs the required tasks.
The first applied methodology is Crystal methodology. This method applies the concept of agile development principle. The main focus of this methodology is people working in that particular system, the community at large, skills and competency of those individuals. The communication process is also important in this method as it provides a good relationship of different people working in the industry (DUMKE 2001).
The motive for using the word crystal is because it has the several core that are important in the industry. The core of this methodology lies in values and principles of the company. This methodology distinguishes core elements such as techniques, policies, and methodology. The clear distinction gives clarity to the software implementation procedures. The major hurdle in operating using this methodology is the fact the process is not taken into much consideration. Though, considered important, it is considered secondary KESSLER et al., (2009).
In the implementation of our system, SCADA requires cooperation between the people working in the organization. Various people in the industry need to be incorporated into the system for effective communication (Muller et al. 2001). However, the system methodology is not suitable for SCADA and EMS implementation. The reason for justification of unsuitability is because the process is not taken much consideration.
Dynamic systems development is another system methodology. The system of development of this methodology focuses more on training and explanation (DUMKE 2001). The system is ideal for a situation whereby the users of the information system are unaware of the technicalities involved in the program.
The program is advocated mainly to situations and scenario where users are trained to a certain information system. The magnitude of importance is underlined in various institutions having learning lessons, and the final process can’t be achieved at the first time. The requirement in this kind of system is that an active user involvement, empowered teamwork, delivery of products. The credibility of usage of this methodology in the application of SCADA is invalidated mainly because its usage is not applicable in our case. Major industries applying SCADA are involved in operation processes that are ongoing. A platform incorporating major training scheme is not needed in our case and hence the inappropriateness of this method in running SCADA and EMS.
The feature driven development methodology is another software development methodology. The method aims to maximize the information system as the one having scalability and repeatability aspects. These are considered mainly because the method is feature based. The main assertion of this methodology are that system for building other systems must be incorporated will to accommodate larger projects in the system. Simply, a well-defined process must be defined. Process steps of the process must be logical as they are processed. The main inclusion of this methodology are: the overall model, build up the plan of all features, the design of the features and feature design model (Muller et al. 2001). The consistency of the company importance of the main features is vital in the implementation of some of the software programs needed in the performance of a certain specific task. The implementation of this methodology is vital in certain specific tasks that require certain components integrated into the system. The method seems to be vital in the integration of SCADA and EMS in companies considering the long and known operation operations of the SCADA to the majority of its customers. This method, however, has some disadvantages as it does not consider factors of communication between workers, the workers talents and qualifications are also not considered (Hussein, 2002).
Another method widely known for the implementation of software programs is the joint application development methodology (JAD). The method has the requirement of a user-friendly interface between the workers and the system being applied. The system offers the platform for gathering information from the users and then incorporating it into the management. The client and company using the system need to be the Principe element. Many things revolve around the client and developers develop the software as per the requirements of the client. The magnitude of application of this methodology is determined by the business forces and not the technical specifications that are needed in the system.
