University Admission Essay Student’s Name University of Hyogo Global Business Course Date University Admission Essay Question 1 (Total Words: 523) What I Want to Study in The Global Business Course I am eager to study the Global Business Course at the University of Hyogo to deepen my understanding of financial management, business strategy, and global business. I also have a passion for different economies and cultures and how they interact in the global marketplace. Consequently, the opportunity to pursue this course in Japan, a country with a strong international business presence, is exciting to me. I am fascinated by how the University stresses the importance of providing students with an in-depth understanding of global business practices. From cross-cultural communication to international marketing strategies, the Global Business Course is designed to equip students with the requisite skills and knowledge to navigate the intricacies of the global marketplace. The Global Business Course (GBC) will help me build a good foundation in financial management. I am interested in starting and running a business that operates globally. With this in mind, I am certain that the program will help me understand pricing and production costs, which are key to successful businesses. I have been researching these areas, and I understand that they are key determinants of market price and, ultimately, business success. According to Hoch & Rao (2020), if a business has a clear understanding of the cost of producing its goods and services, it can make informed decisions about product development, marketing, and pricing. Pricing goods or services too low can result in lower profit margins that affect the business’s sustainability. On the other hand, pricing them too high can lead to lower sales. I am hopeful that the economics and finance courses offered in the GBC programs will equip me with knowledge on how to ensure profitability by managing budgets and forecasting revenue. Also, I look forward to understanding how global trade dynamics and economic policies affect business operations. I also want to study business strategy and learn to manage a global business. I have had setbacks in a past business venture involving an online business operating globally. These setbacks pushed me to seek more knowledge on operating a global business effectively. The GBC program could potentially equip me with a strong foundation in strategic management. I am particularly interested in how to analyze competitive landscapes, consumer behavior, and market trends. Lehnert et al. (2020) show that analyzing how consumers make purchasing decisions enables firms to create targeted marketing campaigns that deeply resonate with their audience. With such marketing campaigns, a business can create better engagement, sales, and brand loyalty. I am looking forward to learning these concepts in the GBC program and experiencing its approach to how cultures and international markets affect business strategy. Why I Am Interested in These Areas I am interested in learning financial management, business strategy, and global business because I want a strong foundation in setting up a business operating on a global scale. I have previously had challenges setting up such a business, which led me to seek knowledge on how to develop strategic planning and pivot when business challenges emerge. Gaining practical experience in international markets would be invaluable for me as I restart my entrepreneurial journey. Question 2 (Total Words: 512) Recounting A Time When I Experienced a Setback Reflecting on my journey, one of the biggest challenges I faced involved a business venture I had set up before completing high school. I have always had this drive for business and also had to look for sustainability during my high school days. Consequently, I developed the idea of setting up an online store specializing in recycled fashion. I began sourcing second-hand clothes and recycled them into trendy wear in my dormitory. Aside from seeking entrepreneurial experience, I had a vision to create eco-conscious outfits. The business venture, however, did not go as I had envisioned. I encountered failures that forced me to shut down within eight months. While testing my resolve, the setback taught me important lessons about planning, adaptability, and resilience. When starting the business, I had confidence that it would appeal to my community and had ambitions of selling my products to a global customer base. With these great ambitions, I proceeded to secure a small loan from family and friends. I set up an e-commerce website and began promoting my brand through all social media platforms. Initially, the response was positive, and sales, mainly from friends, were good. Six months later, however, I started facing unexpected challenges. My main supplier left town, a move that left me unable to find high-quality and consistent second-hand clothes. I also experienced challenges managing orders via my onlin...
