Introduction
Epilepsy is defined as a social and medical condition with unique characteristics of recurrent seizures. It is remarkably distributed across the globe and affects people of all ages. Due to its prevalence, the disorder is now a public health concern, hence a need to understand its prevalence and risk factors to develop interventions to prevent and treat it. This paper is an annotated bibliography showing how volunteering for the Global Organization of Health Education and fundraising provides medical education and volunteer professionals regarding epilepsy in developing nations.

This is a 2019 book publication on epilepsy discussing it as a health concern. The World Health Organization defines epilepsy as a brain disorder characterized by abnormal brain activities that cause unusual behavior, loss of awareness, and sensations. The condition has cognitive, social, psychological, and neurological impacts on many of the globe's populace. The number of individuals with epilepsy is expected to increase because of the increasing life expectancy globally and an increasing number of people surviving insults that result from epilepsy disorder such as traumatic brain injury, birth trauma, stroke, and infections of the brain. Therefore, the social, psychological, and physical consequences of epilepsy pose great burdens on individuals living with the disorder and their families.

They state that regardless of reducing this burden's cases from 1990 to 2016, the disease is a leading cause of mortalities and disabilities. Great gains are anticipated in minimizing risks of epilepsy from treatment advancement in low-income nations through advancements in medications globally.
