The wearing of prescribed glasses by mentally disabled children can be a problem. The authors experimented on how to increase the wearing of prescribed glasses by the mentally disabled. With a sample of four mentally disabled children, they tested how to influence them to use the prescribed glasses with permission from their parents. The results were one out of four children was influenced to independently wear the prescribed glasses by applying non-contingent reinforcement (NCR) distractions. Affiliates of Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine wrote the article. The article is peer-reviewed. Food stealing especially prohibited food is common among individuals with Prader‐Willi syndrome. The article provides the remedy through conditioning experiments. From the experiment, Contingent delivering and verbal reprimands were enough to reduce the stealing of prohibited food by a girl with Prader‐Willi syndrome. The other applicable strategy was the use of warning stimuli to aid in distinguishing the edible and non-edible food when she was not under supervision. It was observed that she reduced the stealing of food that was labelled non-edible. The authors are affiliates of Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. The article is peer-reviewed; hence it is suitable to be a scholarly article. However, the article is outdated as it was written and researched in the early 2000s.
