Rossen et al. (2016) sought to investigate how a diagnosis of prostate cancer and the participation of the partners' behavioral lifestyle intervention program affected the spouse’s life, relationship with the spouse, and the capacity to deal with the situation. In the study, 8 women whose husbands had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer were interviewed. Purposeful sampling was carried out to ensure that the individuals included in the study would provide the data being sought. Similarly, a random sampling technique was applied to a group of men who had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer within the previous 3 years. The men were randomly assigned a control group or an intervention group. The study was carried out for a period of 12 months, and the results show that spouses of patients who have prostate cancer become empowered by participating in behavioral lifestyle interventions.
