RE: RECOMMENDATION IN REGARDS TO KEVIN NDEGWA GACHIGUA
I am writing in regards to the above named individual who has allowed me to breach confidentiality in regards to the nature and duration of therapy. Following the last letter received from the USIU-A disciplinary panel, Kevin has been attending follow up sessions. During the therapy sessions we have dealt with a wide range of issues including those outlined in the letter, below is a summary of the key issues;
Drug and substance abuse – we dealt with relapse prevention and came up with a relapse prevention plan. The plan involved identifying the major causes of the marijuana use as well as the coping mechanisms to deal with the causes. The key areas dealt with extensively in regards to the relapse prevention included;
* Anger management skills
* Stress management skills
* How to deal with negative peer pressure
* Effective decision making skills
The other issue that we dealt with in depth were the deep rooted issues between himself and his father which dated from adolescence. I was able to get Kevin and his father in for a family session, in the session the two were able to openly disclose the factors that contributed to the strain in their relationship.
