According to the case study, Kara experiences workplace bullying from her boss. This mainly occurred after Kara accepted his Facebook friend request. As a result, the boss used Kara's social information to invade her privacy and used it to mistreat her in the workplace. In the end, Kara decided to quit her job since she felt that the bullying from her boss was no longer bearable to her. The incidences of bullying from bosses in the workplace are high. However, most of them go unreported since the other employees in an organization fear to take action against their bosses or envy the position that is occupied by the victims of boss bullying. Consequently, it leads to prolonged bullying, demotivation among the employees, and high staff turnover rate as evidenced by Kara’s decision to quit her job due to the persistent bullying from her boss.

Kara is an employee of an organization. She is a user of the Facebook and her boss sent her a friend request. According to her, she does not want her social life to interfere with her work duties and personalities. As a result, she is hesitant in confirming her boss’ friend request. After giving a deeper thought, Kara decided to accept her boss’s friend request, which proves to be the beginning of the problems she experiences in her workplace. Accordingly, Kara’s boss begins using her social life information from the social media to manipulate her. The boss is constantly spying on her social media events and using it in ways that violate the stated social and professional relationships between employees in the workplace. As shown in the case, Kara’s boss has manipulated her working hours, confronted her on and off Facebook, and questioning her about her whereabouts. In the end, Kara cannot withstand this kind of bullying from her boss as she decided to quit her job since she believes it the best option that would give her the freedom she deserves as an employee.
Cases of bullying from the bosses are high in most of the organizations. Often times, men bosses lead in bullying their employees, with women being the most targeted gender in the workplace. It is evident that boss bullying has a significant effect on the productivity of the employees. It demotivates them to perform better in their assigned tasks. It also demotivates them to execute extra roles or demonstrate citizenship behaviors in their organizations. These effects can be seen in Kara’s case where she is too demotivated to continue working with her current organization. Consequently, she decided to quit her job since the bullying from her boss was denying her the freedom she deserved. This implies that incidences of boss bullying also contributes to high staff turnover rates since most of the victims often choose to quit their jobs. These
