Why might Alex be finding it particularly difficult to find a job?
Alex is finding it difficult to secure a job because of the effects of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and his lower educational level. Indeed, he could have been writing the application letters but he could have been writing the letters wrongly or missing the crucial aspects of a good letter of application aspect. The main effect of the ADHD is the lack of concentration, which Alex could have been experiencing during the job search making employees to less attracted to him. Additionally, Alex has low level of education. With a high school education alone, it is not easy to secure a job. Alex regards himself as a lost person. What are the factors that you believe have contributed to him feeling this way?
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) lowers self-esteem and reduces individual’s socialization aspects. From the case, Alex has low self-esteem and he has only been interacting with his family members, girlfriend, and his car. As such, he doesn’t have friends making him feel isolated. He lacks concentration in most cases, making him to consider himself as a lost individual. Please write about the following: What parts of Alex’s story reminds you of your own experience in your adolescence or emerging adulthood years?
The part of Alex’s story that relates with my story is the feeling that my mother loved me unconditionally. Just as Alex, I was not as smart in classwork as my younger brother. Whenever, the examination results were out, was always ranked among the bottom last while my younger brother was always topping his class. This lowered my self-esteem and interfered with my concentration with classwork (Houghton et al., 2020). To make matters worse, the brother was always rewarded at school for the performance. Also, my father could buy him a price for his good work leaving me behind. However, my mother was there to console and she could buy me something after my brother receive his. How do general theories of human growth and development relate to a young person like Alex?
