Variance Analysis (Coursework Sample)
Using Variance Analysis in Decision Making in healthcare organization( Please assign the writer who did 4091 and 4094 to it)
A good budget is built with thoughtful consideration of future costs and revenue. Though your budget is formulated with expected figures in mind, the actual resulting values may vary considerably. This variance–from projected to actual–can be a pleasant surprise or a fiscal nightmare and can make financial decision making difficult. Fortunately, variance analysis can enable management to determine why variance occurred and what can be done to mitigate its effects.
Assignment 1
For this Assignment, use the information below to run a variance analysis. Based on the information you obtain through the analysis, write a 3-page paper that includes the following:
• A description of the results of the analysis.
• Suggestions as to potential causes of the budget variances.
• An explanation of approaches for addressing the situation.
• An explanation of the importance of variance analysis in making data-driven decisions.
Assignment 2
Salary Variance Scenario
Using the following performance data, calculate the volume adjusted labor rate variance and volume adjusted efficiency variance. The nursing department’s labor costs are considered 60% fixed and 40% variable with volume.
Actual Budget
Salaries
Payroll Hours
Service Volume 345,000
11,000
75,000 413,000
9,500
150,000
(Create an Excel spreadsheet containing the information provided.
Show all your work. DO NOT ATTACH UPLOAD BOTH SEPERATELY. The first part of the assignment must be written in APA with scholarly references from data bases, using in text citations! The second must be done in a spread sheet. They are continuation of each other.

Variance analysis
Description of the results of the analysis.
In this case, results depict two variances in the decision making analysis too which include the rate variance and the budget. They are as explained in the following illustration.
Volume adjusted labor rate variance
Evidence exists to show that this variance by the difference between the multiple of the actual rate and the actual quantity with that of the multiple of the actual quantity and the standard rate. This calculation is shown in the following illustration shown.
= (60* 345,000) – (40* 345,000)
= 6900000
Volume adjusted efficiency variance.
This calculated variance is the multiple of the difference between actual hours and standard hours with the standard rate. The following illustration shows the calculation.
= (11,000 - 9500) * 60
= 90000
Difference analysis
The rate variance will be used to give a suggestion of the cost efficient deployment that is being endured. The following reasons are meant to bring the understanding of the included rate variance. In this case, the following are considered possible causes. (Steffan, 2008, pg. 27)
Undergoing training of the implementers of the budget that is regarded as an extra budget from the depicted actual budget. The organization will be forced to endure excessive varied proportions. This extra budget may also adversely have much impact on both the rate variance and the efficiency variance.
There can also be a depicted and pointed decrement on the salaries end which will cause an increased labor for employees. The above reason depicts that there is extra hiring from the training explanation meaning that there will be sharing of wages on many individuals; hence little wages.
There is also a depicted high setting of the standard cost which may be considered very costly to achieve. This standard cost may have a linkage with some paradoxical explanations which are unanswered.
Aspect of the rate variance can show a higher labor cost which the organization may incur during this particular period when there is a comparison with the standard rate. The higher labor cost can be regarded to be caused by the situation of the rate of wages, using skilled labor to enhance the budget target, inefficient hiring and other reasons. (Jackson, Sawyers & Jenkins, 2009, pg. 143)
Explanation of addressing the above situations
During employments, it is always very necessary to ensure that they use very little amount of money in achieving this process. This aspect can be done through ensuring that there are minimum workers employed, but with much experience and expertise in that particular area. In that case, the problem of training and other expenses in ensuring that the employees understand what one is doing. In order to achieve mitigation, the human resources team ensuring that the employees undergo the best interrogation and the full protocol adhered to.
Alternatively, it is important to regard the trainees as employees and have an obligation to understand that they are supposed to undertake them through a thorough training and have a written instruction for them. The written instruction is meant to ensure that they acquit employees with the reference materials that are procrastinated to make them have the feeling of being accountable for any loss or mistake that is directed to their persona. In this case, the problem of inexperience will have been solved in a cheap labor way.
The other important aspect also found around the employee issue. In this case, the mix factor is crucial. The organization has an obligation to incorporate the employees and trainees in different sections so that the experts can train them in aspects that they require guidance. In this case, there must be a signed agreement for the expertise personnel to teach the trainees so that they work at the same par. (Khan and Jain, 2010, pg. 56).
The other aspect is that of ensuring that the workstation is being configured by use of the best configurations that will suit this problem. Configuration of all the process actuators and work protocols is crucial in ensuring that there are no errors at work that are always very costly. The standard of operations is supposed ...
