Hormones involved in the digestion of fats.
The hormone Cholecystokinin is available in the body to help in the digestion of fats. Cholecystokinin is produced by the intestinal cells into the intestinal mucosa. Hormone Cholecystokinin stimulates the release of bile from the gall bladder into the small intestines where absorption of fats take place (DiPatrizio & Piomelli1, 2015). The hormone also triggers the pancreas to produce enzymes required in the ileum to help in the breaking down and absorption of fats into the bloodstream.
High-Fat Foods: Friend or Foe.
Recent studies by Rippe (2016) show that there should be no cause for alarm by people who take foods that have high-fat content unless those who have a high risk of heart diseases or high genetic risks. Nutritionists recommend that it is safe to take healthy, unsaturated fats in our daily dietary meals. The human body requires fats to regulate body temperature and to provide sources of energy within the body organs. Fats also cushion the internal organs and act as shock-absorbers. Consumption of fats helps in the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K (Rippe, 2016). Taking foods rich in fats helps in weight loss as they decrease the level of hunger felt by an individual, thus making one consume fewer calories. Therefore, as opposed to earlier beliefs that fats are foes, healthy unsaturated fats categorized into monounsaturated fats such as canola and peanuts, and polyunsaturated fats such as soybean oils and salmons have immeasurable value to the human body.
