Transformational leadership is a reward based transactions process of mutual benefit between the leader and the follower. Transformational leadership was propounded and introduced by the political scientist James McGregor Burns thirty years ago.
The root causes of many problems which have hindered the success of the nursing industry and profession lie in the backwardness of the outdated leadership and management styles and the impediments to such success brought about by such leadership and management style.
This report addresses such issues and seeks for requisite solutions from investigating the contents of the results of the Magnet report received from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for Saint Louis Medical Center (SLMC) and reporting the same to the board of directors.
The various aspects of this report and the involvement of transformational leadership and its impacts in the nursing industry are detailed in the executive summary which follows.

* Nurses play a vital role in the provision of health care delivery. The doctor and health manager are not as close to the patient as the nurse to be as nearly important in the health care process and healing process of the patient.
* Transaction importance in the transformational leadership as a give and take initiative between the leader and follower and other characteristics of transformational leadership.
* Transformational leadership is critical in the nursing industry in this era. The reason for this precept emanates from the dire need to identify, bring to light and solve the myriad of problems which encumber the nursing profession.
* Central to the Saint-Louis medical center (SLMC) for the American nurses credentialing center (ANCC) magnet report evaluated in this report include the need to address these problems from a transformational leadership perspective.
