Describing Myocardial Infraction and Causes
Myocardial infarction is a permanent injury that occurs to the myocardial tissue triggered by persistent ischemia and hypoxia. The most common risk factors that lead to myocardial infraction include abnormally high levels of blood cholesterol, Tran’s fat, and high levels of high-density lipoprotein. These fats build up inside the arteries, and they lead to a slight injury to the walls of blood vessels. After the injury, the wall of the arteries tries to heal, and in the process, the cells discharge various substances, which causes the blood vessel to remain stickier. Different constituents present in the blood, which include inflammatory cells, waste products, proteins, and calcium, begin to attach themselves to the wall of the blood vessel (Anderson & Morrow, 2017). These fats combine with other substances forming a material known as plaque. The process continues, and different sizes of plaques grow inside the blood vessel. These plaques deposits are very soft in the interior part, while the exterior part is hard with a “cap” cover.
